TdFF stage 4: Second stage win for Wiebes

 


Lorena Wiebes out-sprinted Marianne Vos to win Stage 4 in Poitiers, her second victory in as many days. Wiebes secures her eight Tour de France stage success, hitting 109 career wins in total. 

On the final sprint, Vos was blocked briefly but got past then tried to overtake Wiebes, finished half a bike length back. Vos holds yellow, with Wiebes moving up three places to second overall. She and former race leader Kim Le Court are 12 seconds back, with Pauline Ferrand Prevot six seconds back in fourth overall. 

Wednesday's Stage 5, will be the halfway point of the race, taking the peloton from Chasseneuil-du-Poitou to Gueret before the riders tackle mountains of the Massif Central for the first time.
